Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh (D)
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, transfer to your hotel. This afternoon, discovery of the city onboard a cyclo.Overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Phnom Penh - city tour (B)
A tour of the capital: hall, National library and National Bank. Finish the morning by Wat Phnom located on an artificial hill. Afternoon, explore the main sights including the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda as well as the National Museum and Wat Prakeo. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Visit an island (B,L)
This morning, enjoy a boat trip to a nearby island where silk is produced. Stroll through the village; discover handicraft producers as well as the local pagoda. Introduction to Buddhism: focus on Buddhist concepts. After lunch, head to Choeung Ek killing fields for an additional historical insight on Cambodia.
Day 4: Phnom Penh - Kompong Thom - Siem Reap (B,L)
Star to Siem Reap. Stop mid way in Kampong Thom for lunch and visit Sambor Prei Kuk temples. It was built in the 7th century, abandoned, rediscovered and restored in 1980. Here, your guide introduces us to Hinduism; hinduism has strongly influenced pre-Angkorian and Angkorian civilizations. Arrival to Siem Reap, hotel check in
Day 5: Siem Reap - Angkor (B,L)
Visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom: the South Gate, the Bayon with its 54 towers of enigmatic smiling faces of the compassionate Boddhisattva, the nearby temple-mountain of Baphuon, the Royal Enclosure with the Phimeanakas temple, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat (early-mid 12th century) dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. In the evening, you will have a course on "Life of Buddha, Buddhist history and the various Buddhist schools in the South-East Asia". Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 6: Angkor Complex (B,L,D)
Morning, drive to Banteay Srei also known as "the citadel of women". Made of pink sandstone and considered a tribute to the beauty of women, this temple with its small size, delicate carvings and remarkable state of preservation is one of everyone's favorite. This visit is combined with the discovery of Banteay Samre. After lunch, you are transferred to a local monastery meeting with the monks who live here. Overnight in the monastery. Course on Buddhism: focus on Buddhist philosophy, monastic life and nirvana. Discussion with monks. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7 Siem Reap Monastery: (B,L)
Rise in the early morning to the sound of the drums around 4 AM. After breakfast, you will be introduced to meditation, followed by a half day practice in the monastery. Transfer back to your hotel in Siem Reap and free time to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 8: Siem Reap - Departure (B)
Free time until your transfer to the airport.
